How long does the season generally run?
Spring season: March - June
Fall season: Septe
mber - November

When are player assessments (tryouts)?
Player assessments for the spring season are typically held in mid-January and are required for
all players, except those in T-Ball and Single A baseball.
Please watch for
an email for specific day/time assignments after registration.

Why does my child need to try out?
Player assessments ensure that your child is placed in an appropriate division based on his/her
skills. Teams are formed with each child's best interests and safety in mind.

May I request a specific coach or teammates?
For T-Ball, Single A baseball, we can often accommodate requests to
play with family or friends, but specific requests are not guaranteed. For higher divisions, teams are drafted by managers and we cannot
place players with a specific coach or teammates, though sibling requests will be considered.

What does my registration include?
Specific details for each season (fall or spring) will vary, but registration typically includes a
jersey, hat, basic picture package, trophy or medal(division dependent), tournament entry fees (division
dependent), and insurance. Registration fees also cover clinics (when available), equipment,
umpires, field improvements, and league charter fees.

What do I need to provide?
Families must provide their player with pants, socks, cleats, belt and a baseball/softball glove.
For baseball divisions double A and above, families must also provide their player with an athletic supporter/cup.
The league furnishes all other equipment, including balls, bats, batting helmets, and catcher's gear;
however, you are welcome to purchase your own equipment, if you prefer.

Where/when are practices held?
Spring season practices begin in mid to late February and are held at local schools, including
Hollyglen Elementary, Aviation Elementary, Da Vinci Connect, and Wiseburn Middle School. Practice schedules will
be determined after teams are formed. Families can expect 1 or 2 practices/week, depending
on division. T-Ball does not practice during the week.

Because AYSO Region 21 has use of the fields during the fall, the fall
practice schedule is limited (1 practice/week on a designated day).

Where/when will my child play games?
Spring season games usually begin in March. T-Ball, Single A Baseball, Double A Baseball
play intra-league games at Aviation Elementary, Da Vinci Connect,
primarily on Saturdays and Sundays. Triple A Baseball, Majors Baseball,
Intermediate 50/70 Baseball, and Juniors Baseball have an opportunity to travel within District 37
for inter-league games and may also play some weekday evenings.

During the spring season, T-Ball and Single A Baseball typically play 1 game per week,
while Double A Baseball and up play 1 or 2 games per week. Following the close of the regular spring season, Triple A Baseball,
Majors Baseball, Intermediate 50/70 Baseball, and Juniors Baseball may have the opportunity
to play in inter-league playoff and/or All-Star games.

Fall season games begin in October, and all divisions typically play 1 game per week. Double A
Baseball and Triple A Baseball play intra-league games at Da Vinci Connect or Wiseburn Middle School. Majors Baseball,
Intermediate 50/70 Baseball, and Juniors Baseball primarily play inter-league games within District 37
and may travel to other nearby locations (Holly Park, Lawndale, Westchester, etc.) for away games.

How do I sign up to be a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, scorekeeper, or team parent?
Please visit our team staff registration page to register as a volunteer.
We’d love to have you as a Head Coach, assistant coach, team parent,
scorekeeper. A spring coaches meeting will be held
during the registration window (November - January). No experience needed!
Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any further questions.

Do I have to complete a background check to volunteer?
To ensure player safety, all new and returning coaches, scorekeepers, team parents, and board members,
and any other volunteers with regular, or repetitive access to players or teams must complete a
background check ANNUALLY. Background checks are completed directly with a third-party
provider; the league does not see or have access to any volunteer's personal information.
Background checks are paid for by the league. For more information on the background check
policy and process, please visit the Little League website or contact [email protected].

Does WLL provide any financial hardship assistance?
Wiseburn Little League is committed to providing a program that allows every child
to play baseball or softball regardless of their financial circumstances. Therefore, a number
of full and partial scholarships may be available each season based on the league’s annual
budget, community sponsorships received, and the overall number of player registrations.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the following information may be requested:
     • An explanation of why you are requesting a scholarship
     • Proof of residency or school attendance within Wiseburn Little League boundaries
     • Proof of player’s age (birth certificate)
     • Documentation demonstrating financial hardship

Scholarship applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and may be asked to provide
substantiating documentation such as: recent medical bills, unemployment record, free/
reduced school lunch application approved by your child’s school, most recent tax return,
or proof of participation in an assistance program such as SSI/SDI, CalWorks, etc.

Please e-mail information to [email protected] or discuss your situation with any
board member. Scholarship requests will be reviewed by the scholarship committee who will determine
the amount of the scholarship award(s). Your information will be kept strictly confidential, and will NOT be
shared with anyone else. A scholarship may be requested for each child in your family who wants to play.

Families approved for a scholarship are expected to give back to Wiseburn Little League in one or more
of the following ways:

     • Volunteer your time. There are many volunteers opportunities, including manager/
coach, team parent, scorekeeping, snack stand duty, and field clean-up days. Note: this
volunteer time is in addition to the regular volunteer deposit/time required of each
family. Time will be accounted in the amount that is covered for the participant.

     • Obtain a sponsorship or donation to our league in an amount equal to or greater than
the value of the scholarship your child is granted. Donations are tax-deductible.
Failure to uphold the give-back requirements may result in the denial of future scholarship
requests. Scholarships expire at the end of each season. A new scholarship request may be
made each season provided the applicant meets the scholarship eligibility requirements.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact the league treasurer at [email protected].
